Tu B'Shevat Family Scavenger Hunt and Zoom

January 24, 2021

4:00-5:00 pm

Scavenger Hunt - outside with your family

Trivia and Fruit Art - on Zoom

This month, we would like to invite you to celebrate Tu B’Shevat; partly with your families and partly with us. Tu B’Shevat is a holiday that reminds Jews of our connection to the earth and to our role as caretakers of the environment.

Your challenge: GET OUTSIDE! Go on a Vancouver tree hunt and find as many different trees as you can (up to 10). Take photos with these trees and submit them to this google drive so the photos can be a part of our Tu B’Shevat slide show.

*Bonus if you are able to label the name of the tree in your photo

**Extra bonus if you take a unique picture with the tree! i.e. funny photos, family pyramid, tree shaped yoga poses…you name it!

Need help finding trees? Check out this app available in the apple store:

When uploading your photos, please rename them as your “last name” so we can ensure that everyone gets their photo in our Tu B'Shevat slide show. Photos need to be submitted by January 21!

To continue the celebration…join us on Sunday, January 24th, from 4-5pm via zoom. For this piece, please have a variety of fruits to use at home. We will use fruits to make homemade art! We will also do some Tu B’Shevat trivia.

Here are a few examples of the fruit art we will be making!

Back by popular demand - we are building another sukkah at Trout Lake!

Get your hammers and nails ready to build an East Side Jews sukkah. Kids (5 years+) and adults will help us to construct our sukkah and kids and adults of all ages will help to decorate. We will have crafts, snacks, hot apple cider, and a story in the sukkah to round out the afternoon.

This year we are also excited to welcome "Hint of Lime," a Vancouver based quintet that plays Gypsy Jazz, Brazilian music, and bluegrass.

Trout Lake is allowing us to keep the Sukkah up for the entirety of Sukkot - through October 21st! You can come with your family anytime during Sukkot to share a meal and dwell in the sukkah that we built!
